The fact that the firm in Arizona already had a singed contract before anyone knew about the plan meant that the authorities were reluctant to change their minds perhaps because they would have had to compensate the company? I guess the flood control people didn’t dare sneak their plans through for Hahamongna, which is why they came to talk to us first. But even then, we got the strong impression that there was nothing we could do to stop all the willows being cut down, and if we did stop it, we’d put all the people and their freeway downstream in danger.At the Hahamongna meeting, the LA Flood Control people promised to rehome all the wildlife first. Yet in Arcadia, the tree sitters were advised to come down at night for fear of being attacked by all the displaced animals!
